Assessment is critical to gauging student progress and modifying instruction to meet student needs. Students at GSD are assessed in a variety of ways. Students participate in the Georgia Milestones Assessments (End of Course assessments in grades 9-12 and End of Grade assessments in grades 3-8) or the Georgia Alternative Assessment (as determined by the IEP). GSD teachers also employ local assessments to monitor and track student progress throughout the year. Assessments include STAR Reading, STAR Math, Fairview, Curriculum-Based Assessments, and Brigance. Teachers also administer teacher-designed tests and quizzes, as well as ongoing formative assessments.
