Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS)
Multi-Tiered Systems of Supports is a system designed to help all children succeed by providing different levels of support based on student needs. MTSS is a way for schools to organize the supports students need to be successful. Components of MTSS include:
- A teaming approach that maximizes time, resources, and expertise
- A problem-solving process that uses data to make decisions and meet improvement goals
- A focus on prevention and learning supports to address student needs early
- Ongoing and effective partnerships with parents, families, and caretakers
By including these elements, MTSS creates a supportive school climate that can address a child’s unique needs, helping each to achieve full potential in school. The number of students requiring interventions will decrease as the level of intensity of the intervention
